Galerie Peirce deals essentially in XIXth and XXth century paintings, and reserves a significant part for XXIst Century art. . Works are proposed in all techniques ; oils of course, but also pastels, gouaches, watercolours and drawings, as well as a few engravings. The defining element is that the work has real technical and aesthetic quality, is in good condition and can be offered at a competitive price.
Our intention is to be of service to our collector friends ; if they do not find what they are looking for in the gallery, we would be pleased to help them find what they want, either in auction houses or in other French galleries. We will also seek to buy works and will be happy to consider direct purchase or to assist collectors in selling their work, should they so desire. We would particularly like to help non-French speakers to understand and to buy in the French market. Having lived and worked in France for the past thirty years, and studied art here, we feel well placed to do so.
The gallery carries essentially works by internationally renowned artists, but also offers some works by lesser known artists we believe warrant being known. We are as fond of figurative art as of abstract and can offer interesting paintings in both categories. Please consult the Artist, Paintings and Drawings pages of the site for a small sample of what we propose.
The gallery is fortunate to have two exceptional collections. A series of drawings by Maximilien Luce, coming from the artist?s son, enable one to appreciate the consummate skill of this marvellous draughtsman, for whom drawings were the moment of real composition. We had an exhibition in March 2007, but have enough drawings left to warrant the visit. Members of the family of Emmanuel de la Villeon have consigned with us a set of lovely paintings by this artist, who warrants being better known. These were exhibited in November 2007, but the gallery conserves a good collection of his works.
